A Message From Sireze

Hi everyone!!!!!!
Sireze here giving u another summary of this weeks activities!!!
So this week concluded our lesson on Patterns. I actually made some good patterns I must say and had fun with it. We are now learning about Zentangle which is another art form of doodling to me LOLZ. But its actually interesting because after doing more research on it, I see that alot of artist use different shapes and even make objects out of shapes. We also are doing a project in honor of World AIDs Day(December 1st) and each of us in class received a piece of a poster and we all have to use the form of Zentangle in our artwork. Above are some examples of Zentangle and some pictures of my patterns for your entertainment
Until Next Time!!!!!

Patterns V.2

Another week of Galley has gone by with another lesson learned. To start off the week we were introduced, or for some reintroduced, to Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA). It seems to be a nice fit for those interested in fine arts. More information can be acquired at www.pafa.org. With the compositional figures we created last week we began to color them in using the live paint bucket tool. When adding color to the compositional figures we used complementary colors, which are colors that lie on the opposite end of the color wheel but when placed next to each other they look brighter. We used the color palettes for reference in terms of what colors are complementary to the other; for example Green-Red, Blue-Yellow, Light Green-Purple. (http://kuler.adobe.com/) We used the figures then to make pattern swatches. When applied to a shape you can see the repetition which creates the pattern. Above us are our examples, the one with pink is done by Anita, and the one with a darker shade of yellow by Jared.

Patterns

Hi, this is Dorotha and Jeanette coming to you from the Graphic Design class at Gallery 37. This week we critiqued each other's city stickers. Then we jumped into a new lesson on learning how to create patterns. It may seem easy but there are many steps that are taken to come up with a cool pattern. Patterns are repetition of images or shapes (organic/geometric). We see patterns in our every day lives, rather it may be on an item of clothing, in our habits, or just looking at a building. We used Illustrator to design a compositional element then tweaked with it to produce our pattern. We started our patterns off with geometric shapes but will soon move into organic shapes.
